Announcement 1 - Applications are now being accepted for the Gail Burns-Smith scholarship/stipend to cover cost of SAFE course offered at Quinnipiac University.  Ms. Gail Burns-Smith, was a longtime advocate for sexual assault victims and former executive director of Connecticut Sexual Assault Crisis Services Inc. 

Announcement 2 - Fall registration for the Quinnipiac University SAFE course is now available for interested RN who would like to become a Sexual Assault nurse examiner.  Dates for the next SAFE course are:  Will be determined in the next few weeks

• We are pleased to announce that there are nine new SANE graduates from Quinnipiac University.  Congratulations to all and good luck in your endeavors. 
• The first board member tele confrence went off without any problems. We will look forward to continuing this form of cross state communication of board members as well as regular membership.

Forensic Nurses specialize in caring for victims and perpetrators of violence. They care for the physical, psychological, and social trauma that occurs in patients who have been assaulted or abused. Forensic nurses also have a specialized knowledge of the legal system and collect evidence, provide medical testimony in court, and provide consultation to legal authorities.
